TOBY R. CARPENTER
TOBY R. CARPENTER is a native of Kingsport, Tennessee. He graduated from East Tennessee State University in 1991, with a degree in political science and history. He is a 1995 graduate if the University of Tennessee College of Law. After beginning his practice with Baker, Kinsman & Hollis in Chattanooga, he returned to Knoxville where he practiced for over twelve years with the firm of Carpenter, O'Connor & Sterchi. He joined Kennerly, Montgomery & Finley in 2008. His practice is devoted almost entirely to civil litigation, primarily insurance defense, first-party insurance matters including coverage and fraud, subrogation, personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, premises liability, transportation, and construction. He has handled cases at all levels of the trial and appellate courts of Tennessee, as well as the United States Disctrict Court for the Eastern Section of Tenness. He is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association. Mr. Carpenter was the incorporator and one of the original officers of East Tennessee Border Collie Rescue, a nonprofit organization devoted to the rescue and placement of homeless sheepdogs. He is also an avid bicycle racer.
